My doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D,) is from Central Michigan University, and I graduated in 1991. During this program I mastered courses and experience, achieving a sub-specialty assessing and treating children and adolescents. I interned at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Hartford, CT., in an adolescent inpatient unit. This is where I began learning about and treating trauma. Prior to entering private practice in 1989, I worked as a psychologist on a sexual abuse team in a community mental health center, then served as a consultant for Balt. Co. Dept. of Social services, treating teen survivors of abuse. I was also their Coordinator of the juvenile sexual offender program. Prior to my doctorate, I worked at a college vocational counseling center.
I have been a member of The American Psychological Association, The Maryland Psychological Association, and The Baltimore Psychoanalytic Society for many years. I also belong to the Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, and have taken extensive continuing education courses on trauma treatment and child/adolescent therapy. Hypnosis is also one of my passions, as this can greatly expedite therapy, and help others achieve control over anxiety and depression, as well as develop increased confidence/self-esteem. I am a member of ASCH and have extensive training in both Eriksonian and regular hypnotherapy.
